Carb refurbishing/rebuilding
Hi, can anyone recommend someone or a company that refurbishes/rebuilds Solex carbs? They're off a 1983 2.00 air cooled and are the original carbs. Solex 32-34 PDSIT-2 and Solex 32-34 PDSIT-3..........for those who know I probs didn't need to state that. When they were on I was told the spindles ...

Re: Sliding door not locking from outside
With the outside door handle removed, can you lock and unlock the door with your finger, by pushing the lock ring left and right? Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk Hi, yes, just been out trying again. I think it's possibly a combination of worn rear catch and not quite the right adjustment on th...

Sliding door not locking from outside
Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this. 1983 T25 RHD sliding door lock won't lock by key from the outside and when I lock it on the inside I can still open it from outside. I've taken out the entire mechanism, de-greased/cleaned it. greased it all back again. All parts move smoothly as...

Setting up hydraulic lifters CU engine
Hi, apologies if this has been asked before, I've had a quick look and can't find anything. Just some work done on the engine 2.00l CU air cooled. New hydraulic lifters are in and I've been asked if I can find out how tight they should be set up. Haynes manual says just until the rods are touching b...

Re: Carb not drawing in air
Hi Guys, thanks all for your knowledge, helpful suggestions and feedback.....I'm learning. I'm going to be getting the van back next week. It runs on petrol so is useable and I've got it booked for bodywork repairs early in the new year and want to see how it is driving around for a while and will...

Re: Carb not drawing in air
Maybe check for vaccum leaks on that side of the engine? But I would say there is something not right with the LPG setup as they ran on petrol, but again I'd be out of ideas at that point as I know nothing about LPG systems. Thanks for your help, it's definitely not the LPG though because there rea...

Re: Carb not drawing in air
If you had no compression on that side you'd hear the difference when starting the engine. The Starter motor would alternate between spining faster and slower as the engine turns over. Sorry remind me, did these new carbs run fine on petrol? Because to me if the van was running fine on petrol on th...

Re: Carb not drawing in air
If the original carb is a single carb it will draw air though because the one side of the engine still was pulling air in, whereas the other side with the "duff" carb wasnt. I'd do as Saran says and slacken off the tappet screws on the side that has no air being drawn in. To my understand...

Re: Carb not drawing in air
Have you checked whether the carb (butterfly) is opening when accelerator is pressed? Thank you. Not knowing much about these things that's a conclusion Im reaching, I'm wondering if it was snagging on something?. Just added to my latest comment that the mechanic put the old original carb back ...

Re: Carb not drawing in air
Hi, sorry for not getting back to anyone regarding this. As said I'm a complete novice and asking advice. I couldn't find the replies. I was told the carb wasn't pulling air in and shown...put my hand over the near side and there was suction and none over the offside. So is it looking like an en...

Carb not drawing in air
Briefly, engine rebuilt, new Solex/Brosol twin carbs, mechanic says offside one isn’t drawing air in from the top. Is it a carb fault or something else please? I’m a complete novice. Carb supplier is mystified how it can be but I’ve yet to send them back. Now looking into a different setup. Many tha...

Twin carb and LPG
Hi folks, 2.00 air cooled . I'm a novice and need to check something out. Recent engine rebuild and new Solex/Brosol twin carbs fitted, I also have an LPG conversion. LPG guy was having problems setting the LPG up and then discovered there was no air being sucked in through the offside carb so the...
